Note: The plural in Manmino is formed by adding -tat to the corresponding singular pronoun:
A: I
→ Atat: We
Ni: You (SG)
→ Nitat: You (PL)
Ka: He, she, it
→ Katat: They
Vocabulary:
bawyu to have
dokto read
ken to see
sik to consume, to eat, to drink, etc ...
wan to want
asu dog
pang bread
pal fruit
socek book
syawnen boy
syawnyo girl
Word order in a Manmino sentence is usually SOV (or subject-object-verb):
Ni pang sik. You eat bread.
A syawnen. I'm a boy.*
Nitat asu bawyu. You(PL) have a dog/dogs.**
Ka socek dok.He reads a book.
A pal sik wan. I want to eat a fruit.
Atat dok wan. We want to read.
*In sentences as simple as this, the verb to be can be omitted.
**In Manmino the plural does not need to be marked. If needed, it can be marked with -tat, or the noun can be repeated.
The particles Lu and Na are used to mark the object and subject of the sentence respectively. The use of these is optional in a common word order, but when the order is altered, either for emphasis on a word or for aesthetics, their use is mandatory for a clear understanding of the sentence.
A-na pang-lu sik. =
I eat bread.
Pang-lu a-na sik. =
A-na ni-lu wan. = I want you.
A-lu ni-na wan. = You want me.
To ask a question you only need to add the question particle ka to the end of a sentence.
Katat socek dok ka? = Are they reading a book?
Nitat sik ka? = Are you(pl) eating?
to negate a sentence, simply place the word "But" in front of the verb.
A ni but-ken = I don't see you.
Ni a but-ken ka? = You don't see me?
